Artist Statement
Untitled [Kiss] is a video made of still images that reveals the process in which a photographic image slowly disintegrates and transforms, as it is gradually de-coded.
An image of two lovers kissing is printed on silk and literally pulled apart, thread by thread. Viewers are confronted with the instability of human relationships as well as the fragility of the photographic image especially as a mnemonic device. The process is both predictable and slow in order to invite viewers to meditate over the inevitability of the final outcome. |
